Explaining Public Mobile's 3G Usage Price Increase

Starting June 15, 2026, Public Mobile customers using 3G devices on the legacy 3G network for Voice Calls or Data will see a 3G usage price increase of $5 per month.

The 3G usage price increase helps us continue supporting legacy networks and maintaining old equipment.

Since Public Mobile introduced access to our award-winning 4G LTE and 5G networks, we've seen great improvements in overall data speed, voice quality, and general connectivity. But as technology evolves, older network equipment becomes outdated and needs to be taken out of service.

In several countries around the world, cell phone companies have shut down their old 3G networks, and Public Mobile plans to do the same in the future.

Key points to remember:

  • The 3G usage price increase is $5 per month and will be added to your plan cost.
  • After you switch to a 4G LTE/5G device, you'll no longer see this amount on your bill starting on your following renewal.

For voucher customers:

If you typically top up your account using a voucher, please remember to add this amount to ensure sufficient funds for your plan and the 3G usage price increase. Examples:

  • If you have a $30 monthly plan, you must top up your account with a minimum of $35 ($30 + $5 for the 3G usage price increase) plus applicable taxes.
  • If you have a $80 90-day plan, you must top up your account with a minimum of $95 ($80 + $15 for the 3G usage price increase for 3 months) plus applicable taxes.
