Enabling Roaming:
What do I need to start roaming?
Before you leave Public Mobile’s Unlimited Coverage Area, here are some simple steps you need to complete:
- Make sure your phone is set to enable roaming.
- Top up your wallet.
Now you are ready to talk and text within our Roaming Coverage Area. If you plan on sending emails or data while outside of our Unlimited Coverage Area, you must:
- Ensure data roaming is enabled on your phone and account. Visit a Public Mobile store or dial *611 to ensure the feature is enabled on your account.
- Make sure you have money in your wallet.

Disabling Roaming:
Why should I disable roaming on my phone?
Disabling roaming on your Public Mobile phone will help you control
your roaming charges.Android Smartphones can consume data even when they
are idle. You should only have the data roaming feature enabled when
you want to use a specific data service (check an email, Facebook,
browse the web). Once your task has been completed, it is recommended
that you turn the data roaming feature off on your phone to avoid
background data consumption.
You should disable roaming on your phone if you:
- Are within Public Mobile’s unlimited coverage area
- Do not wish to use services outside of the unlimited coverage area
- Want to avoid background data roaming
