| What data products are available at Public Mobile, and how do they compare? |
Public Mobile offers data on 2G data phones and 3G Smartphones.

Note: To use the above data features, you’ll need to subscribe to the 2G or 3G data feature.

| Can I use my data phone to connect to the internet on my laptop (tethering)? |
No.

| What type of email accounts can I add to my data phone? |
Most email addresses will work including Microsoft exchange, Hotmail, Microsoft Windows Live Mail, MSN, Live.com, and any other email service accessible through POP or IMAP. At this time, Cogeco does not allow access to their SMTP servers (SMTP relay service) and will not allow you to connect your Public Mobile phone to their email service.
Push email service is available for hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail and Microsoft Exchange on 2G data phones. Push email service is available for Gmail and Microsoft exchange on 3G Smartphones. Push email is a service that pushes a new email directly to your inbox without you having to manually download the message.
If you have a 2G data phone and don’t have an email address, you’ll need to set one up using a computer. If you don’t have access to a computer visit one of our stores and we will help you set one up.
If you have a 3G Smartphone, you’ll be able to create a new Gmail account right from your phone.

| Can I open/edit/send Microsoft documents on my Public Mobile data phone? |
You can open/edit/send Microsoft documents on your 3G Smartphone.
Opening/editing/sending Microsoft documents is unavailable on 2G data phones.

| What is the info portal? |
The info portal is a gateway to the most commonly needed information including news, weather, traffic, public transit, sports, and entertainment. It includes websites that are mobile friendly, quick to load and easy to read on your phone.
You can also purchase and download ringtones and graphics from the download store on the info portal. The store is the best way for you to easily access ringtones and graphics directly from your Public Mobile data phone.
If you have a 3G Smartphone, you’ll be able to download games and applications too.
Content from the info portal is purchased using funds in your Public Mobile wallet.

| What is Picture Messaging? |
Picture messaging allows you to send a picture or audio message on your cell phone.
You must have a Public Mobile data capable phone and subscribe to the messaging feature in order to send or receive picture messages. The person you are sending the message to must also subscribe to picture messaging and have a Canadian or US cell phone number from one of the companies on the supported carrier list.
The largest picture message you can send and receive is 600kb.
You are able to send the following file types:
- Images: JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP
- Audio: midi, mp3, qcp

| Is there a way to filter content that can be viewed on the web browser or downloaded from the Android application market (i.e. parental control)? |
There is currently no way to filter content on the web browser.
If you have a 3G Smartphone, additional security applications may be available to download from the Android market.

| If I misplace my data phone, how safe is my personal information such as emails and Facebook account? |
If your phone is lost or stolen, call us at 1-855-4PUBLIC right away. We can block the data features on your phone.

| Does Public Mobile manage or shape internet traffic on its 3G network? |
Yes, Public Mobile sometimes finds it necessary to manage traffic on its network so that all users have a consistent, high quality experience when accessing the internet on our handsets. For more information on data traffic management, click here.
