Public Mobile Extends Service to Mississauga, ON
Market News - Christine Persaud, November 10, 2010
New wireless carrier Public Mobile has expanded its network to now cover Mississauga, ON, a city about 30 minutes outside of the downtown core of Toronto.
Although most would consider Mississauga, ON to be part of the greater Toronto area (GTA), the city was not originally included in Public Mobile's "Toronto" roll out. But as of today, residents of Mississauga, and Toronto subscribers traveling in and out of that city, will enjoy service coverage there.
Public Mobile's Toronto network now includes the area from Chinguacousy Road (in Brampton) east to Highway 427; from Highway 403 (Mississauga) east to Port Union Rd. (Scarborough); and from Steeles Ave. S. to Lake Ontario.
Complementing the Mississauga extension of the service is the opening of six new stores in the city. Locations will open soon at: 720 Bristol Rd. W.; 2891 Derry Rd. E.; 3437 Derry Rd. E.; 624 Lakeshore Rd. E.; 3100 Dixie Rd., Unit 1A; and 2515 Hurontario St.
Public Mobile expects to add to the city of Brampton, about 20 minutes further, to its coverage area as well by the end of this year.
In addition to Toronto, Public Mobile's network, which offers unlimited talk and text for a standard fee (no data), is available in Montreal, QC. Phones are sold without contracts.
Along with its standalone stores, Public Mobile phones and plans are sold through Gateway Newsstand locations, convenience stores, and select Loblaws locations.
